What if my California title is missing?
If you are the current registered owner and ownership is staying the same, we can review a replacement-title request. If ownership is changing, choose Title Transfer instead. Lienholder, address, or ownership-record issues need review first.
What should I bring for a title transfer?
Bring the original title when available, identification, and any bill of sale, lienholder, inheritance, gift, or other documents related to the ownership change. We will confirm what applies.
What if the title is from another state?
Use the out-of-state transfer option if ownership is changing. If you already own the vehicle, visit our out-of-state registration page. We review your documents before confirming the available path.
