Fees and what to have ready
Replacing more than one item? Pay the highest CVP service fee, then add $10 for each additional replacement item. For example, plates plus a sticker are $85 in CVP service fees.
DMV fees and any postage are separate. We review your vehicle record and request before confirming the total. In-office pickup has no extra pickup charge. View the full service fee schedule.
Eligible replacements: Standard California plates, including applicable commercial, motorcycle, trailer, and recreational vehicle plates; registration year stickers; and registration cards. Availability depends on the transaction.
Have your plate number, VIN, and photo ID ready. We’ll confirm the required application and supporting documents before processing.

Service scope: Vehicle and vessel registration transactions only. We do not process custom, personalized, or specialty plates, driver’s licenses, or ID cards.
How It Works
1. Choose your replacement
Open the replacement request form and choose License Plates, Registration Sticker, or Registration Card. Provide your vehicle and contact details.
2. Confirm documents and fees
We review eligibility, explain the required application and photo ID, and separate CVP service fees from DMV charges. Tell us during follow-up if you need more than one item.
3. Receive eligible replacement items
Once documents, payment, and transaction requirements are complete, we process the eligible replacement. Choose in-office pickup or arrange mailing with postage.

Can I receive replacement items the same day?
Eligible in-office transactions may be completed during your visit when all required documents and fees are complete and the items are available. DMV record issues or additional review can delay completion. Mail-in service takes longer.
